The Ocean Photographer of the Year Finalists Highlight the Sorrowful and Sublime
“These photographs don’t just capture what’s beneath the surface; they surface the stories our planet most needs us to hear,” says Will Harrison.

4. Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

Reading this again, to refresh my memory before hitting the next book in the series. As dark urban fantasy goes, this takes some beating.

5. The Magicians (TV show)

I have banged on about this before, but we're doing a re-watch and so it is top-of-mind again. (Loosely) based on the Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman, this is not for everyone by any means, but I think it is one of the best shows of the last twenty years. It's adult Harry Potter mixed with dark urban fantasy, satire, magical creatures, a lot of swearing, musical interludes, gods, monsters... It has everything, sometimes too much of everything. There are no big names, and the budget is nothing to write home about, but it was clearly made by people who love the source material and cared very deeply about the show. This is my third or fourth time through it and I still love every minute. Available on Amazon Prime in the UK.
